A Summer Traverse to Experience the Beaches of Islands

Whenever it is the time to think of escaping the reality, the first thing that comes to the mind is to be on a journey. Travelling has something about it where we absolutely feel like this might be the one place that is going to make us all feel like we have had the goodness from the world and is energized enough to return back to work or whatever it is that we are pursuing.  And very often, there are a number of people who accompany me with the very thought of taking a tour through someplace nice. And this time we were in for a beach destination where we would be spending some good time at the beaches. The destination we had chosen for the purpose was the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. After doing a bit of research on all the places that we could be visiting in the Islands, we booked a tour package through a tour planner named Andaman Tour Travel. We were based in Chennai and hence, all we required was 2 hours and a couple of minutes to reach the ravishingly beautiful Islands.

We were picked up and driven to the first place of booking we had done which was a hotel at Port Blair. After we reached, the 5 of us took turns in freshening up and then decided to leave for the first destination of travel which was undoubted to Have Lock Island. Since it is an Island the best attractions are always through the beach destinations. Have Lock is a popular place for the lot and people traversing through Andaman make sure they take a stopover in the place. The journey had been on a ferry where 2 hours was required to reach the place. None of us had sea sickness due to which we had a smooth journey on the ferry. And then when we reached, all five of us were picked and the driver stopped at Radhanagar Beach. He gave us a number in which we could contact him after sightseeing the destination and left. The crowd had been quite high where almost all the people who had come in the ferry had made their way to the beach. The best thing was that despite the crowd, the place still outshines in its beauty.  we walked further and sat down totally throwing poetic lines on the blue water and white sand. Also, the people who had come to the place had not been littering around. Had it been a beach in Chennai, we would have seen a chain action of people littering in the place. We spend ample time on the beach as the photographer in the group had been setting the perfect frame to click good pictures of the destinations and our group pictures.

And then we called the driver who picked us up and rushed us to a nice place for lunch as all of us were overboard on hunger and it was late noon. We have some good food and then decided to leave for the next destination.  And then we found our way to the Elephant Beach. The one thing about this beach was that it actually had the scope to pursue underwater activities like snorkeling and scuba diving. We had not booked our session and hence had no way to do it here. And then we began back as the ferry timings had been scheduled then which would be taking us back to Port Blair. We were looking forward to enjoying a hearty dinner by the beach that had been offered to us by the tour planners. We went to the room, freshened up and got into light cloths and then made our way to the beach where the driver dropped. A number of people had been there but we were provided with our own space with the small barbeque station and a cook who would be serving us our food. It seemed to be a fancy thing which we had been planning to do ourselves at Chennai but it had never worked out. The night had been lit with the sea facing us and the aroma of the good food that had been waiting for us. It was indeed the best dinner night until then.

The next day, we got ready to make our way to the Diglipur. We were to start the day with a boat ride to reach the destination. We reached Digilpur on time and the main task here was to see the turtles at Kalipur beach. When we inquired regarding it, we were told that even though it was not the nesting period, we would be able to see few of them crawling on the shores. And as we reached Diglipur we rode to the beach where the turtles had been humongous and large as we had read in certain articles when we had googled it. Seeing turtles is quite a usual thing in Chennai but this had been way different considering the size of the beings. And then we got moving as we had trekking on our cards for which we went to the Limestone Caves. We had to keep the constraints of the return boat due to which we began the trek as we reached. An hour and a half were required in order to trek it completely. We also took several short breaks in between enjoying the pristine place. Later by, we had trek all the way back which had made us crave for lunch. We got back and the driver had been waiting for us with packets of food he had parceled. We had it as he drove us to ferry point. we got back and got travelling back to the hotel from the boat stop at Port Blair. The night went by as we had all been tired from trekking.

Our flight back to Chennai was scheduled late evening due to which we checked out of the hotel and proceeded to the final day on our Andaman package where the places we had decided to visit where Cellular Jail and Forest Museum. Both the places are significant when it comes to Port Blair where the former place took us through the misery that the Indian freedom fighters had once gone through for the freedom we are enjoying at this point of time. And then we decided to get to the Forest Museum where they had in store for us certain artifacts that had been made of timber, oak and other types of wood. We had planned to check into the airport 2 hours prior to the flight due to which we had lunch along with the driver and thanked him for a nice trip for us. As the flight took off, the sea had started to glitter in the moonlight and it was indeed pure grace.
